What’s On the Bench: In the Making This Month
Take a peek at the most popular products from August’s festivities, as we reveal What’s On the Bench!
As Edinburgh’s Festivals round to a close, there’s no slowing down for Mackenzie’s workshop team.. We’ve met many faces over the past few weeks, and the flow of orders have been keeping the craftsmen very busy – and the workshop bench full!
And so a new idea for a regular blog was born. Let’s take a highlight tour of some of this month’s makes, and inspire what’s possible with Mackenzie..
First up, the iconic Gladstone
There’s rarely a moment we don’t have one ‘in the making’ and on the bench. And this month has been no exception! Open to some of the most versatile customisations in our collection, no two Gladstones are the same.
This month has seen a variety of canvas colours, in both our Overnight and Weekend sizing. The simple nature behind such a skilled design is best seen when the outer skin of the bag is outstretched on the bench, showing off its one-piece foundation.
Each customers’ individual design choices bring a welcome variety to the bench. The addition of a personalised initial disk on the interior of this Leather Gladstone is by no means unusual, but certainly makes for an elegant distinction to this particular piece.
Not forgetting, the Gladstonettes
The feminine take on the Gladstone shape, our renowned Gladstonette, is another one of our consistent makes. With so many options available, from leather colour combinations to linings, pockets and fittings, it’s no wonder we’re kept so busy with a range of beautiful Gladstonettes each month.
Just a Couple of Satchels..
There’s been more than a few satchels in the making this month!
Our Canvas Satchel is a wonderful accessory to add to your wardrobe as we transition into Autumn in Scotland. And this month has seen a rainbow of canvas pass over the bench. With the endless possibilities of canvas, leather, lining and fitting combinations, no satchel has been the same.
If you’re in the market for a full leather shoulder bag, our craftsmen also made a handful of our Pentland Satchel this month. These classic bags are a joy to witness fresh from the bench, as our Italian and Spanish hide gains character with wear over the years, meaning each one has a unique journey ahead.
It wouldn’t be festival month without lots and lots of Sporrans!
August in Edinburgh means you’re never far from a kilted man. With the Edinburgh Tattoo, performers, tour guides and Highlandwear enthusiasts galore, it’s no wonder our Sporran production hits a year-round high.
Which colour would you go for?
